The cops shot and killed a guy carrying a knife at a railway station in Paris.

In the early hours of Monday morning, a man assaulted police officers who were on duty at Gare du Nord station.

A guy who reportedly assaulted police officers with a knife at Paris's Gare du Nord train station has been murdered by police in the French capital.


The incident occurred on Monday at around 7 a.m. (06:00 GMT) at the terminal for trains departing from London.

Deputy Transport Minister Jean-Baptiste Djebbari told RMC radio that "the individual who assaulted them died on the scene." He also said that two police officers got minor injuries.



On Twitter, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin stated, "The police utilized their rifles, therefore removing any threat, both to themselves and to travelers."


On social media, a France Television journalist who happened to be at the train station when the event shared a video in which two gunshots can be heard in the background.


He went on to say, "It was a guy who had been known to the police as someone who walked about at the station." It seems he assaulted the officers with a knife, causing them to deploy their weapons.


Gare du Nord is one of Europe's busiest railway stations, and it serves as a hub for international train connections to the United Kingdom and Belgium. It is located in the heart of Paris.


Djebarri said that the event had resulted in significant traffic congestion on Monday morning. He went on to say that the event did not seem to be tied to terrorism.


Concerns about violent crime and terrorism are among the top issues on the minds of French voters as they prepare for the presidential election in April.
